AMHERST, Mass. – C. Marjorie Aelion has been named the new dean of the School of Public Health and Health Sciences (SPHHS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The announcement was made by Charlena Seymour, provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs. Aelion will begin her new duties Jan. 1, 2009.
AMHERST, Mass. – William L. Mitchell, an alumnus who earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in landscape architecture from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, has been named the new director of the Stockbridge School at the university.
AMHERST, Mass. – Graduates of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts Amherst are actively involved in the creative economy of Western Massachusetts through their jobs and as volunteers and financial supporters of cultural organizations, according to a recent survey. Almost half of these alumni report they’d not be living in the Pioneer Valley had they not attended UMass.
AMHERST, Mass. – The stage at Bowker Auditorium at the University of Massachusetts Amherst was decorated with flowers for the 86th Commencement of the Stockbridge School on Friday, May 23. Associate degrees were conferred on 100 students in six majors: arboriculture and park management; equine industries; fruit and vegetable crops; horticulture; landscape contracting, and turfgrass management.
AMHERST, Mass. – The Graduate School at the University of Massachusetts Amherst held its Commencement ceremony this afternoon in the William D. Mullins Memorial Center. Degrees were conferred on approximately 1,000 master’s and doctoral candidates. More than 900 of those eligible to receive degrees attended the ceremony, accepting their diplomas to the cheers of about 3,000 family members and friends.
