AMHERST, Mass. - Amy McGovern, a graduate student in the computer science department at the University of Massachusetts, runs a computer mailing list, or "list-serv," for women students in computer science, from high-schoolers to doctoral candidates. Currently the list-serv has 250 subscribers around the world, and McGovern aims to increase that number substantially.

AMHERST, Mass. - Both the award-winning University of Massachusetts Marching Band and award-winning UMass football team will be playing in Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn., Sat., Dec. 19. The football team will be competing in the Division 1-AA championship game against Georgia Southern in a game to be televised nationally on ESPN starting at 2 p.m. The band will perform at a half-time show.

AMHERST, Mass. - Approximately 80 high school marching bands from throughout New England and as far away as Pennsylvania and New Jersey will travel to the University of Massachusetts to join the UMass Minuteman Marching Band for a performance on Sat., Oct. 10. This marks the University’s 14th annual Band Day. Some 4,000 musicians and color guard members will practice from 9-11 a.m., and perform at half-time at McGuirk Alumni Stadium during the UMass-James Madison University football game, which kicks off at 1 p.m. The UMass band will also perform at a post-game show.
