The UMass Amherst Alumni Association has announced the 2014 recipients of its most prestigious recognition for alumni, faculty and friends: the Distinguished Alumni Awards. They will be presented April 2 at the State House in Boston.
“Green Geckskin” is the latest product trademarked by UMass Amherst from the polymer science and engineering team of Professor Al Crosby and researcher Michael Bartlett, who with others including biologist Professor Duncan Irschick, first introduced the flexible adhesive Geckskin in 2012.
Monica Au-Yeung, a teaching fellow in the College of Education’s National Science Foundation’s Noyce Foundation project, has been named a 2014 Fellow of the Dow-National Science Teachers Association’s New Science Teacher Academy, a yearlong program focused on encouraging and supporting early-career science educators.
Best-selling novelist Jodi Picoult, who recently donated her papers to the Libraries’ Special Collections, will be the guest speaker on Saturday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m., at the Friends of the UMass Amherst Libraries 12th annual Dinner with Friends at the W.E.B. Du Bois Library.
