AMHERST, Mass. – Two University of Massachusetts Amherst faculty members were appointed to named professorships by President Jack M. Wilson following the Feb. 15 meeting of the University’s Board of Trustees at the Dartmouth campus.
About 100 students and faculty gathered outside the Student Union Feb. 16 to hold a rally for the release of freelance reporter and alumna Jill Carroll, who was abducted Jan. 7 while on assignment for the Christian Science Monitor in Baghdad.
The Board of Trustees voted Feb. 15 to approve the appointment with tenure of Teri L. Yohn of Georgetown University as associate professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems, effective Sept. 1.
Sonia Nieto, professor of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies, presented the Charles W. Hunt Lecture on Jan 30 during the annual meeting of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education in San Diego.
