Vermont is known throughout the world as a leader in the
specialty food industry. Recognizing the enormous contribution
the specialty food industry makes to the state’s economy,
government agencies, non profits and private industry have
made it a priority to provide support for Vermonters who
are looking to start a new specialty food business, or expand
an existing food business.
Vermont Food Venture Center
The Vermont Food Venture Center is a non-profit, shared-use
kitchen for new and expanding entrepreneurs. They provide
a wide range of services including initial product development
assistance, wholesale ingredient and packaging purchases
and a food safety and sanitation course.

The Vermont Department of Agriculture, Food and Market ensures
the safety and quality of Vermont’s agricultural products
and acts as an advocate of Vermont agricultural and farmers.
The Division of Agricultural Development works to develop
local, national and international markets for Vermont’s
agricultural products including specialty foods. The Division
plays a central role in organizing the Vermont Specialty
Food association, and acts an s a consultant to both start-up
and food businesses and existing businesses looking for market
assistance.
