* Explanation of treatments
1. Cape Cod National Seashore. Pine-Oak woodland fuels. Fuel treatment: None.
2. Cape Cod National Seashore. Pine-Oak woodland fuels. Fuel treatment: Brushcut.
3. Cape Cod National Seashore. Pine-Oak woodland fuels. Fuel treatment: Burn.
4. Cape Cod National Seashore. Pine-Oak woodland fuels. Fuel treatment: Brushcut/Burn. The understory shrub vegetation (primarily Vaccinium spp. and
Gaylusaccia baccata --lowbush blueberry and huckleberry) was brushcut in
June 2003 using hand-held Stehl brushcutters at approximately $225/acre. Treatments occurred shortly after leaf-out, when root carbohydrate reserves are low. The brushcut fuels were then burned in late July of the same summer. Fuel load and depth data presented above were collected the following April.
5.
M. F. Correllus State Forest. Scrub oak barren fuels. Fuel treatment: None.
6. M. F. Correllus State Forest. Scrub oak barren fuels. Fuel treatment: Mow.
7. M. F. Correllus State Forest. Pitch pine forest fuels. Fuel treatment: None.
8. M. F. Correllus State Forest. Pitch pine forest fuels. Fuel treatment: Mow.
9. M. F. Correllus State Forest. Oak woodland fuels. Fuel treatment: None.
10. M. F. Correllus State Forest. Oak woodland fuels. Fuel treatment: Mow.
11. Montague Plain. Scrub oak barren fuels. Fuel treatment: None.
