Ensembles
are open to all UMass Amherst students, subject to auditions held
at the beginning of each semester.
CHAMBER
CHOIR
John Paulson, conductor
Chamber Choir performs repertoire chosen from the classical American
and European choral traditions as well as from other parts of the
world. Recent performances include the Bach St. John Passion,
Handel's "Messiah and Missa Gaia by the Paul
Winter Consort. Appears regularly on campus and tours throughout
New England.
UNIVERSITY CHORALE
John Paulson, director
Repertoire chosen from the classical American and European choral
tradition, as well as from Africa, Asia and South America. Recent
performances include Bach's "Magnificat" and Beethoven's
"Mass in C". Appears regularly on campus and has toured
throughout New England.
WOMENS
CHOIR
John Paulson, director
Vocal group specializing in classical and world music for treble
voices and music by and about women.
MADRIGAL
SINGERS
Vocal chamber music, primarily from the Medieval, Renaissance and
Early Baroque literature. Performances on and off campus, joint
performances with the Five College Early Music Program.
FIVE
COLLEGE EARLY MUSIC COLLEGIUM
Robert Eisenstein, director
A vocal and instrumental ensemble dedicated to the performance of
Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Music.
VOCAL
JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Catherine Jensen-Hole, director
Dedicated to the performance of jazz, blues and soul. Appears locally
and regionally.

WORKSHOP

Marjorie Melnick & William Hite, coordinators
Singer's Performance Workshop stages and performs an opera or selections
from operas each semester.
Admission and casting is by audition.
