James Patrick Miller, Director of Wind Ensembles, received his D.M.A. in conducting at the University of Minnesota. He holds the M.M. degree in conducting from Ithaca College and a B.M. in music education magna cum laude from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. |

In 2003, Miller won the American Choral Directors Association National Conducting Competition at the graduate level, and has led university and public school ensembles as guest conductor in seven states. He has been involved in commissioning more than 30 new works over the last 10 years.

Tony Thornton, Director of Choral Ensembles, holds a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting & Historical Musicology from the University of Arizona, an M.M. from Louisiana State University and a B.M. from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. |
Trained first as a singer, Dr. Thornton has performed as a tenor soloist throughout the US, Europe & Asia, and sang for seven years with the Grammy-Award winning Robert Shaw Festival Singers. As a member of the Westminster Choir, he recorded with Leonard Bernstein, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado & Zubin Mehta.
As a guest conductor & clinician, Thornton has worked with over 150 choruses and has held teaching positions at California State University-Los Angeles, Los Angeles City College & Pomona College. Thornton also served as the Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Choral Artists and the Tucson Masterworks Chorale. He is the author of The Choral Singer's Survival Guide (giamusic.com), is the General Editor of The Julius Herford Collection (forthcoming), and he maintains a choral series in his name at Colla Voce Music.
John Bottomley, Lecturer in Tuba & Euphonium, is due to complete his D.M.A. in Tuba Performance from The Ohio State University in 2009. He holds a M.M. in Orchestral Performance (tuba) from the Manhattan School of Music and a B.M. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since 1993, he has taught at institutions including: |

Miami University/Ohio, Wright State University, The Ohio State University and Kent State University.
He has performed in the Richmond, Columbus and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras and has been a finalist for the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony. His Manhattan Brass Quintet won first place at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
