TROMBONE; LECTURER

Greg Spiridopoulos has been the principal trombonist with the Albany Symphony Orchestra as well as a member of the Portland Symphony Orchestra since 2001.

Greg Spiridopoulos
As an active free-lancer in the greater Boston area, Mr. Spiridopoulos has frequently appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Keith Lockhart and Friends, Opera Boston, Boston Philharmonic, the Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Ballet Orchestra, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the New Hampshire Music Festival, and many others. His performances in jazz and big bands have shared the stage with Branford Marsalis, Bernadette Peters, Max Roach, Mel Torme and the Jimmy Dorsey Band. An enthusiast of historical performance, Mr. Spiridopoulos custom-built his own Classical Period replica alto and tenor trombones. He has recorded for Albany Records, Boston Brass Series, Mark Records, Capstone Records and Arsis Audio.

A native of Vienna, Virginia, Mr. Spiridopoulos has taught at the University of New Hampshire and maintained a private teaching studio. He received his Master of Music degree from Boston University where he studied with Ronald Barron. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Michigan State University where he studied with Curtis Olson and Philip Sinder, and was a proud member of the Spartan Marching Band. Mr. Spiridopoulos also studied with the late Milton Stevens.
