Ludmila Krasin was born and raised in Leningrad, Russia, in a family of actors. She started taking
piano lessons at the age of 6 with her grandmother, who was a distinguished piano teacher and performer at that time.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Rimski-Korsakov Music School of the Leningrad Conservatory and Summa Cum
Laude from the State Academy of Culture where she received Artistic and Teaching Diplomas in Piano Performance and
Choir Conducting, she became a music faculty member at the Teachers State College of Leningrad.
In addition, she received the State Licenses for Solo Piano Performance, Accompanying, and Lecturing in the State
Philharmonic Society of Leningrad. She performed as a collaborative pianist with Nina Arsientieva (Professor of Voice
at St.Petersburg Conservatory), Anatoly Babitsky (violinist with St. Petersburg Philharmonic), and many others in
almost every concert hall of St. Petersburg, including her favorite performance space, the famous Yusupov Palace
Theatre and Concert Hall.
With Andrey Tolshin, a renowned actor in the Pushkin Theatre, she created and performed an original musical and
dramatic composition entitled The Return, (based on the poems of the repressed poets), which she performed
in St. Petersburg, Kiev (Ukraine), Riga (Latvia), and Murmansk. She also served as an accompanist in the State
Theatre of Komissarjevskaya. She performed in a live radio broadcast as solo pianist with the Youth Orchestra of
Folk Instruments, playing Arenski's Fantasia, a composition based on folk songs for solo piano and
orchestra.
After moving to the United States in 1996, she continued her teaching and performance career. In addition to
accompanying and teaching for UMass Amherst, she has served as the Music Director of the Northfield Unitarian
Society, and Accompanist for Smith College Choirs and Springfield Symphony Chorus. She is also an Adjunct Faculty
member and Concert Choir Accompanist at Northfield Mt. Hermon School, and free-lance musical director/pianist for
various musical productions in the Pioneer Valley including Some Enchanted Evening, Stage West,
Springfield 1997, Secret Garden, Shea Theatre, Turners Falls 1998, Guys & Dolls, Williston
Academy, Easthampton 2002, and Cabaret, Springfield College 2004. She resides with her husband, Bruce Krasin,
also a musician, in Northampton, and in her spare time enjoys teaching piano to her little grandson.
