TIMOTHY CHENETTE 81 Bartlett Hall 413-545-0760 MUSIC THEORY; LECTURER Timothy Chenette is a doctoral candidate in music theory at Indiana University. He earned a BA in Music at Kenyon college and a MM in music theory at Indiana University.

While at Indiana, he taught extensively in the department of Music Theory as well as in the department of Music in General Studies, and his teaching was recognized in Spring 2010 with the Wennerstrom Music Theory Associate Instructor Fellowship.

Chenette's research explores ways of reconciling historical sources and repertoires with modern analytical methodologies and goals. His research on the expressive uses of complex rhythm in late 14th century secular music was presented to the 2010 annual meeting of the Society for Music Theory. A more recent presentation investigating the relationship between strict counterpoint and chromaticism in late 16th century music was awarded an Honorable Mention for the Arthur J. Komar Award at the 2011 meeting of Music Theory Midwest, and will be presented at SMT 2011.
