Bachelor of Arts in Music Degree
NEW For 2020-21: Students choosing the Bachelor of Arts in Music track can now have Music Theory, Music History or Jazz Studies as their area of emphasis, in addition to the traditional area of Performance. Detailed information about these new degrees will be available on this page in early August.
A less intensive degree in Music than the Bachelor of Music; can be useful for double-majoring or pursuing a more generalized liberal arts education. Has similar core requirements to the Bachelor of Music Degree, but does not include the Class Piano or Conducting requirements, and requires six (not eight) semesters of private lessons and ensembles. Students must complete the requirements of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, including a Foreign Language through the Intermediate II level.
Requirements for Bachelor of Arts in Music, Performance track:
- Theory - 5 semesters
- Aural Skills (Ear Training) - 4 semesters
- Music Literature - 1 semester
- Music History - 3 semesters
- Applied Music (Private study) - 6 semesters
- Ensembles - 6 semesters
