Spring 2013 Events
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM), now officially proclaimed "Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month" by President Barack Obama,[1] is a celebration of the culture, traditions, and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
In May 1992, the month of May was permanently designated as “Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month”; however, at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, APAHM has been traditionally celebrated in the month of April.
Organization of events to celebrate this month is spearheaded by the Yuri Kochiyama Cultural Center (YKCC) of UMass.
