About OPSAS
Extending Learning Beyond the Classroom
Welcome to the Office of Programs & Services for ALANA Students (OPSAS)!
At OPSAS, extending learning beyond the classroom acknowledges that some of the most pivotal and memorable life experiences happen for students once they step outside the classroom--whether through direct application of classroom learning or associative learning through participation in one of our programs, in an organization, through an internship, conference or on-campus job.
Our nine offices dot the UMass Amherst campus from the canyons of Southwest to the hilltop of Upper Central--and every campus neighborhood in between. Where ever you live or where ever you're going, there's a place near you where you can learn more about yourself or discover something new about someone else.
We're here to help you navigate the university, celebrate and share your cultural roots and enliven the vitality of the multicultural UMass Amherst community.
We invite you to join us on an exploration of diversity and inclusion that will, as scholar Shaun Harper writes, "[create] a movement toward a deeper understanding of issues that divide and separate, and development of initiatives that engage and include."
I really do look forward to meeting you!
