Who Runs the Organization?

MSP is a volunteer organization with a representative and democratic form of government. Our dues pay for the operation of an office in 121 Hampshire House with three full time staff members: Mary Fletcher, Executive Director; Lori Reardon, Membership Coordinator; and Diane Raczkowski, Bookkeeper/ Researcher. MTA also provides us a full time legal consultant, Beth Boyer, whom we share with the Boston campus. Each spring at a general assembly, elections are held for officers, who hold a two-year term, and Executive Board members from each school, who hold a three-year term. The Board generally meets every two weeks throughout the year, the officers every week, to discuss decisions that affect the university and respond to pressing issues facing faculty and librarians. We also meet on a regular basis with the campus administration and represent the faculty and librarians at various political and educationally-related functions throughout the state. Every faculty member and librarian is encouraged to be an active participant in the union.
