Primary goal:
MISER Population EstimatesThe Population Program at MISER produces population estimates for the state, its counties, cities and towns, as well as for metropolitan areas. Estimates are available by sex, race/ethnicity, and 5-year age groups. To go to the MISER Estimates web page click here. The latest estimates available are for 1999.
MISER Populaton ProjectionsThe Population Program at MISER also produces population projections for the state, its counties, cities and towns. These projections are available by sex, and 5-year age groups for 2010-2020. Click here for more information on the latest projections, released December 10, 2003.
Federal/State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates (FSCPE) As the Massachusetts representative to the Federal/State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates (FSCPE), the MISER Population Program works closely with the U.S. Census Bureau and FSCPE members from the other states. MISER's role in the FSCPE is to provide raw state data as input to the Estimates Branch (including group quarters data and vital statistics) on an annual basis, to review the estimates once produced by the Census Bureau, to provide feedback on the current Census Bureau estimates methodology, and to disseminate these estimates to interested parties within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. To access the latest Census Bureau estimates, check the Data Operations and Dissemination Free Data web page for Massachusetts data, or go to the Census Bureau's Population Estimates web page. We also maintain a Census Bureau Estimates web page with access to Census Bureau population estimates for Massachusetts.
Additional Population Information Census
2000 data for Massachusetts are available on the MISER/State Data Center
