If you have not already done so, print the installation instructions before downloading any files below.
Here are the downloadable packages:
Some resources need additional files in the chime directory in order to operate. The particular files needed will be obvious from error messages when you try to view a new file set. You may prefer to download ALL the files in the chime directory to minimize hassles. The chime directory files may be obtained by ftp from ftp://www.bio.umass.edu/pub/shareware/chime. You do not need to ftp the files in the chime subdirectories (e.g. anim_xyz, authtool, chimehow, dna, etc.) -- these are what have been packaged up above.
If, after unzipping, you need to ftp any of the files to a different operating system, be aware that htm and txt files are ASCII, while gif files are binary. pdb files may be either, but both forms will survive binary transfer. True pdb files are ASCII, but pdb files intended for Chime are often gzipped to reduce network traffic. Gzipped pdb files must be transferred as binary, else Chime will fail. If in a hurry, transfer all files as binary; the ASCII files may end up being double spaced but this is not serious.
