What Are Protein 3D Structure Data?
by Eric Martz, September 2005
Caveat: "Structure"
in bioinformatics can mean
sequence
structure or
3D
structure.
Atomic Coordinates + Chemical and Protein Annotations
(element, amino acid name, position in amino acid, chain, sequence number):
-
4 Amino Acids (65 atoms).
-
3D Data as Text.
-
A Small Protein (56 amino acids, ~1000 atoms).
The above displays were made with
ProteinExplorer.Org's
MolSlides.Org capability.
Protein Explorer is
the easiest way to see and understand any macromolecular structure data.
Molecular displays are rendered with
the Jmol java applet (open source,
Jmol.Org).
