Protein Explorer Preview: Contact Surfaces

In PDB ID 1B07 shown below, a 10-amino acid regulatory peptide is bound to an SH3 domain. Generating the contact surface below requires only that the "receptor" and "ligand" chains be identified (by clicking on them and noticing the report in the message window) and entered in the slots (":a" and ":b"). Then, pressing the [Make] button generates the image shown. In the Explorer, the image can be rotated and zoomed.
Magenta spots are the closest contacts, and usually signal hydrogen bonds. White or light gray spots are a bit more distant, and usually signal hydrophobic interactions. Dark areas are too far away from the ligand to be in contact with it.
