Criteria for Admission
We are interested in admitting students who are confident they want to
pursue positions in higher-education, leading service-learning and engagement.
Successful applicants will have been strong students as undergraduates,
and have demonstrated through undergraduate activities or professional
experience (e.g. VISTA, AmeriCorps) that they have the potential to be
leaders of engaged campuses.
Admissions Process
- Please state clearly in your graduate student application essay
and a cover letter
that you wish to be considered for the Masters Track in Service-Learning
and Community
Engagement within the Higher Education program.
- Be sure to list relevant service-learning and engagement or community-based
experience in your resume and to ask one of your faculty or administrators
writing a letter of recommendation to speak to your experience in
this area.
- Applicants for the program may be interviewed by phone in February
and March and invited to an
orientation if accepted, wherein they will interview for assistantships
(if not
otherwise employed).
- Faculty will make students aware of assistantship opportunities in service-learning. Students who obtain assistantships receive a stipend, tuition waver, and health benefits.
