The Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Initiative at the University of Massachusetts Amherst promotes collaboration among the natural and social sciences and public policy. Located within the Center for Public Policy and Administration in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the STS Initiative provides a forum to discuss research topics in science and technology and encourages linkages of social science faculty with science/technology projects. The group provides a single point of contact for campus-wide faculty collaborations, enabling effective teaming on new proposals and initiatives. UMass Amherst is home to a substantial group of notable researchers and the considerable developments in science and technology demand a closer integration of natural and social sciences and public policy. Members of STS Initiative are currently partnering with several groups across campus, including homeland security and nanotechnology.
