UMass Amherst Nanotechnology Center Receives $20 Million Renewal of Federal Grant to Boost Advanced Manufacturing, Economic Growth
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Amherst has received a five-year, $20 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support a national research center on nanomanufacturing. The grant will fund the university’s Center for Hierarchical Manufacturing (CHM).

A signature CHM effort is focused on roll-to-roll nanoscale processing of flexible electronics and high technology devices such as solar cells, cell phone displays, batteries and sensors. Roll-to-roll processing is similar to how photographic film moves through a camera from one spindle to another or how newspapers are printed, but with chemical and physical processing in between. UMass to host the next NOBCChE Northeast Regional Meeting
UMass Amherst has been chosen by the Board of Directors of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) to host the next NOBCChE Northeast Regional Meeting.  MassNanoTech, along with the newly-formed UMass Student Chapter of NOBCChE will lead in organizing the event scheduled for April 20-21, 2012.  We invite undergraduates, grad students, post-docs, and professionals to participate in 2 days of poster competitions, research presentations, guest speakers, and networking opportunities.  Advancing our mutual goals of producing/presenting top tier research, opening opportunities for students in the STEP fields, and expanding the academic and professional network of young scientists and engineers is the purpose. Science Quest for High School Students
MassNanoTech has taken the lead in bringing you UMass ScienceQuest, a day of mini-course, demonstrations and lab activities designed for high school students interested in science and lab research. The event is sponsored by the NSF Center for Hierarchical Manufacturing, UMass College of Natural Sciences, NSF Material Research Science Engineering Center, and the iCons Program.
