Installing the Luna Insight Java Client

Luna Insight 5.6 allows registered users to search multiple image collections, build presentations and export images. Luna Insight is available at no cost to members of the UMass Community.

Download the Insight Java client for your platform (Mac or Windows). You will be prompted for a location on your computer where the installation files will be saved.

To Install Luna on OS X

  1. Once the download is complete, navigate to the location on your computer where you saved the Luna download and double-click the Insight_MacClient.zip file. The file will unzip and create an Insight56_OSX folder at the same location on your computer where you saved the .zip file.
  2. Enter the Insight56_OSX folder and double-click the installinsight.app file. The Luna Insight installation will begin. Throughout the installation, you will be prompted for some setup information, we recommend that you keep the default settings unless you are absolutely sure you wish to change them. Click Next at the bottom of the window when prompted to advance to the next stage in the installation.
  3. Once the installation is complete, click Done to close the installation window.
  4. To open Luna, from the FInder, go to Go > Applications > LunaImaging > Insight 5.6 > Insight 5.6.app (you can mount this to your Dock to make it easier to access later).

To Install Luna on Windows

  1. Once the download is complete, navigate to the location on your computer where you saved the Luna download and double-click the Insight_WinClient.exe file. The file will unzip and create an Insight 5.6 Client folder at the same location on your computer where you saved the .exe file.
  2. Enter theInsight 5.6 Client folder and double-click the installInsight.exe file. The Luna Insight installation will begin. Throughout the installation, you will be prompted for some setup information, we recommend that you keep the default settings unless you are absolutely sure you wish to change them. Click Next at the bottom of the window when prompted to advance to the next stage in the installation.
  3. Once the installation is complete, click Done to close the installation window.
  4. To open Luna, go to Start > All Programs > Luna Imaging > Insight 5.6.
