Tuition & Financial Aid

A number of Teaching Assistantships (TAs) are available each year. Recipients earn a weekly stipend as well as receiving a tuition waiver. To apply for these positions, simply check the relevant box in the application for admission, indicating that you are interested in an assistantship.

Externships with labor and community groups may also be available. These Internships also provide a stipend, a tuition waiver, and eligibility for membership in the Graduate Employee Organization. If you are interested in an internship, please contact us.

Students interested in financial aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before March 1 for the following Fall semester and by October 15 for the Spring semester.

The AFL-CIO’s Union Plus benefits program offers scholarships from $500 to $4000 to help union members further their education. For more information, go to the Union Plus Scholarship webpage.

UMass offers an installment payment plan (UPay) for tuition payment. UPay is not a loan program, so there are no interest or finance charges. Payments are automatically deducted through your checking/savings account or credit card. You can find more information on UPay here.
