Driving Directions to the Labor Center

Getting to UMass
The closest airport is Bradley International airport (BDL) in the Hartford/Springfield area. It is approximately one hour from campus. There is no free transportation to the University, but arrangements can be made with Valley Transporter at 1-800-872-8752 or 413-253-1350.

It is possible to use Peter Pan Bus Service but it is only a few dollars less and involves changing buses in Springfield.

There is a free bus system to the center of Amherst, with inexpensive bus service to many places in the Pioneer Valley.

From Bradley  Airport in the Springfield/Hartford area:
Take I-91 North through Springfield and Holyoke. Get off at Exit 19, Northampton/Amherst. At end of exit, go right toward Amherst, which is east on Route 9. Go over bridge over the Connecticut River and continue on Route 9 about 5 or 6 miles. When the Howard Johnson is on your right, turn left onto Route 116 North. Take the first exit, which says University of Massachusetts. At end of exit, go right onto Massachusetts Avenue. To get to Gordon Hall, stay on Massachusetts Avenue and after the third light (first light just blinks), stay to the right as Massachusetts Avenue curves right and becomes North Pleasant Street. Gordon Hall is the second building after the light (the first is the Baptist Church).

From the Mass Pike (I-90) coming from the East or West:
Take I-91 North exit toward Holyoke.

From the Mass Pike (I-90) (from the East this way is shorter, but a little confusing):

Take Exit 8, the Palmer exit, off the Mass Pike (I-90) and turn left at the light at the end of the ramp onto Route 32 (ignore the sign that says go right for UMass - they want you to shop or eat in Palmer). Turn left at the cemetery just past the K-Mart on your left. Follow the road, when the road forks around a little grocery store, pass to the right of the store. Go over railroad tracks and past an old factory. Continue on this road until it merges with Route 181. Merge right onto 181. Follow Route 181 into Belchertown (approximately 5 miles). In the village, Route 181 merges for about 1 mile with Route 202 North. Go north on Route 202 through the village of Belchertown. Go left, which is west on Route 9 towards Amherst. In Amherst (approximately 7 miles), turn right at the light at the Amherst Common onto North Pleasant Street. Follow signs to UMass which will have you turn left at the second light (with the bank on one corner and Bertucci's on the other), but you'll still be on North Pleasant Street. Gordon Hall is on the left before the Baptist Church.
