CPPA Faculty Colloquium speakers announced
The Center for Public Policy and Administration (CPPA) is hosting lectures by four faculty speakers as part of its spring Faculty Colloquium.
The colloquium is held each semester and offers a forum for faculty across campus to discuss their policy-related research. Talks are held the first Monday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. in 620 Thompson Hall.
The colloquium kicks off Feb. 1 with assistant professor of Public Health Maria Bulzacchelli, who will talk about her research on challenges to implementing workplace safety policies.
On March 1, Charles Schweik, associate professor of Natural Resources Conservation and Public Policy and founder and co-director of the campus’s Open Source Laboratory, will discuss his work on the potential of open source software for promoting scientific and social collaboration.
Jane Fountain, professor of Political Science and Public Policy, who also directs the National Center for Digital Government, will discuss her most recent research on the “virtual state” on April 5.
The colloquium concludes May 3 with a talk by Brenda Bushouse, associate professor of Political Science and Public Policy, about her work on advocacy networks and the rise of policy ideas.
According to M.V. Lee Badgett, professor of Economics and CPPA director, “The CPPA Faculty Colloquium provides a great opportunity for members of the UMass community to engage with current policy research. The talks are informal and often based on work-in-progress, so audience members are introduced to new ideas concerning public policy before the research is actually published. This spring’s speakers will discuss a range of important policy perspectives from multiple disciplinary perspectives.”
All talks in the CPPA Faculty Colloquium are free and open to the public. Brownbag lunches are welcome.
