Cirque Mechanics comes to FAC stage
“Birdhouse Factory” by the Cirque Mechanics will perform on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall.
The Cirque Mechanics troupe includes veterans of Cirque du Soleil, the Pickle Family Circus and the Moscow Circus. In the “Birdhouse Factory,” the factory is the circus setting, the machines are circus props, and the workers are acrobats, dancers, contortionists and clowns.
The show tells the story of assembly-line workers producing humdrum widgets at
the H. Rosebud Factory until a disoriented bird creates mayhem and alters their lives and the factory’s future. “Birdhouse Factory” was inspired by the murals of Mexican-born artist Diego Rivera, the illustrations of cartoonist Rube Goldberg and Charlie Chaplin’s film “Modern Times.”
The creative team of Cirque Mechanics includes director Chris Lashua, assistant director and choreographer Aloysia Gavre, and character actor and performer Steven Ragatz.
The SHOW Circus Studio from Easthampton will offer circus training at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby. This is also an Arts Give Back event where audience members are asked to bring a food item to donate to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
Tickets are $35, $25 and $15; youth 17 and under and students are $15. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office, or call 545-2511. A Global Gourmet fixed price dinner is available at the University Club beginning at 5 p.m. For menu information call the box office.
