Annual HerbFest takes place May 5
HerbFest 2009, a festival celebrating herbs, spices and medicinal plants, will be held on Tuesday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom.
Sponsored by students enrolled in PLSOILIN 280, “Herbs, Spices, and Medicinal Plants,” the annual event is an occasion for the University community to see a variety of herbs, learn about the role of these plants in society, and support students.
Attendees have the opportunity to sample a range of foods prepared with herbs and spices, have students answer questions about growing and using herbs, and see a variety of herbal species in the HerbFest garden.
HerbFest highlights include some homemade herbal ice cream, new herb tea flavors and those often requested herb-flavored cookies. Demonstrations on herbal history, medicinal uses, herbal dyes, and other applications are also planned.
The event is free and open to the public.
April 26, 2009.
