Applications open for Juniper Institute's summer writing programs

The MFA Program for Poets and Writers will hold its sixth annual Juniper Summer Writing Institute and concurrent Institute for Young Writers from June 21-27.

The Juniper Summer Writing Institute offers a week of workshops in poetry, fiction, and memoir, craft sessions, readings, and manuscript consultation with world-renowned faculty and writers in residence including James Tate, Lydia Davis, Mark Doty, Charles D’Ambrosio, Dara Wier, Noy Holland, Paul Lisicky, Matthew Zapruder, Kelly Link, Holly Black, Chris Bachelder and Thomas Sayers Ellis. Poets and writers of all levels, from around the area and across the country, gather to form a community of writers dedicated to exploring the creative process and advancing their craft.

The Institute for Young Writers offers specialized workshops and seminars for high-school-aged writers. With unparalleled programming for young writers and access to acclaimed authors through the adult institute, the Institute for Young Writers offers an extraordinary experience to high school students and recent graduates.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Scholarships are available for both the adult institute and the Institute for Younger Writers.

Scholarship applications must be postmarked by April 1.

UMass Amherst faculty and staff are invited to apply and receive a special discount of $100 off tuition.
