Campus invited to meet Minutemen at ‘Super Sunday’
Faculty, staff and students can get a preview of this year’s Minuteman basketball team this weekend as coach Derek Kellogg and his squad hold an open practice followed by a meet-and-greet session with players.
UMass Basketball Super Sunday is set for Sunday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. at the Mullins Center. “I want all of the faculty and staff here at UMass to meet these wonderful student-athletes who are playing basketball for the Minutemen,” says Kellogg. “As a former UMass basketball player in the mid-1990s, I can’t tell you how important it was to have the Mullins Center packed with fans to pump us up for the games. I have been at the hockey and football games where thousands of fans are cheering and supporting the Minutemen and look at the results so far. The support of the close to 4,000 staff members on campus is very important to the success of the basketball team and all of the teams here at UMass.”
Students attending the event will receive free pizza with their student ID.
“Come on out and meet the team and see what the future holds for your Minutemen,” says Kellogg. “Sunday will be a great opportunity to come and see our exciting and athletic team.”
The Minutemen open their regular season against Cornell in the Legends Classic on Nov. 18 at the Mullins Center.
