Psychology graduate student cited for outstanding service
Psychology graduate student Courtney Baker received the Clinical Psychology Program's Award for Outstanding Service, also know as “Jamie’s Smile,” on April 9.
Baker was recognized for her dedicated services as a student and colleague, her outstanding compassion and professionalism, and for always being ready to step forward and donate her time generously and graciously.
By tradition, this award is given by 7-year-old Jamie Simonson, son of professor emeritus Norm Simonson, who created the award in honor of Jamie’s first birthday. The award is given every year on or near the boy’s birthday, March 31.
According to Simonson, he “called it ‘Jamie’s Smile’ because he has a great smile ....and we hope that he keeps personally presenting it each year... until he gets on his motorcycle and goes to California ...”
