Ouellett gives invited lectures in Japan
Mathew L. Ouellett, director of the Center for Teaching, served as a visiting lecturer on higher education in June at the invitation of the National Institute for Educational Policy Research of Japan’s ministry of education and the Japan Professional School of Education.
Ouellett was also the keynote speaker for a ministry of education-sponsored conference in Tokyo where he presented a paper, “Faculty Development in U.S. Universities: The Roles of Faculty Developers,” about national trends in faculty and instructional development.
He also delivered invited papers at Nagoya and Kyoto universities. At Nagoya, the Center for Studies in Higher Education invited him to speak on the roles of regional networks in faculty development in U.S. colleges and universities. Ouellett gave a guest lecture hosted by the higher education department at the University of Kyoto on the role of faculty development in U. S. universities and the role of the Professional and Organization Development Network in Higher Education in promoting faculty development nationally.
