Caraher wins Parents' Choice award for children's CD
Dennis Caraher, applications analyst in the Office of Information Technologies, has been awarded a Parents’ Choice Gold Medal Award for his latest CD for kids, “I Miss the Mud.”
The Parents’ Choice Foundation says that Caraher “delivers smiles with quirky humor and sunny charisma, wrapped in an agile musicality that embraces folk, country, old-time rock 'n roll and a cappella vocals.”
All of the songs are written by Caraher and he is aided in his performance by many other musicians, most notably, 10-year-old Emma Henderson, who performs a heartfelt tribute to mothers titled “I Love My Mom.”
Caraher, who learned about the award last week, said, “It’s just great to be recognized by a national publication.”
A singer-songwriter for the past 20 years, he has two other award-winning CDs for children: “Bow Wow Baby” and “Dog Bone Town.” He also has a collection of originals songs on his record “Radio Boy.”
A staff member at OIT for 10 years, Caraher works on SPIRE.
