NIH funds Irschick's study of human motor development
Duncan Irschick, associate professor of Biology, and Jeff Lockman from Tulane University were recently awarded a one-year $291,589 National Institutes of Health grant to expand their ongoing studies of human motor development and performance.
Specifically, the grant will allow them to examine the kinetic and kinematic control of key motor tasks ranging from hammering to simple banging with an object. This will allow them to identify functional markers of motor development across an age range from children to adults and should shed light on how humans learn to conduct carry out motor tasks, and at what age they learn to do so.
