Anderton elected to Sociological Research Association
Sociology professor Douglas Anderton has been elected to the Sociological Research Association (SRA), an honor that recognizes the most successful researchers in the field, according to Donald Tomaskovic-Devey, who chairs the department.
Founded in 1936, the association’s mission is “to recognize and promote excellence in sociological research.” Currently, its membership numbers about 425. Membership invitations are extended to a limited number of sociologists each year, based on their long-term careers of distinguished research.
Anderton, who joined the faculty in 1988, is director of the Social and Demographic Research Institute (SADRI) and associate dean for Research Affairs in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
He joins three other Sociology faculty members elected to the SRA: Tomaskovic-Devey, Dan Clawson and Robert Faulkner. Emeritus professors Jay Demerath and Alice Rossi are also members of the association.
