Venkataraman awarded tenure
The Board of Trustees voted Feb. 16 to award tenure to Dhandapani Venkataraman of the Department of Chemistry.
A member of the faculty since 1999, Venkataraman conducts research in areas of smart catalysts for making new molecules, electronic materials, and crystal design.
In 2002, he was awarded $385,000 CAREER grant by the National Science Foundation.
Venkataraman earned his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, Urbana; his master’s degree at the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, India; and his bachelor’s degree at R.K.M. Vivekananda College, also in Madras. He was a postdoctoral researcher at Cornell University and the University of California before his appointment to the Chemistry faculty.
