Roche selected for Scripps Howard Journalism Entrepreneurship Institute

B.J. Roche, senior lecturer in Journalism, has been selected as one of 12 fellows to the 2013 Scripps Howard Journalism Entrepreneurship Institute held at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in Phoenix.

The weeklong institute, which is held in January, is designed to help journalism educators build their programs' curriculum in entrepreneurial journalism. Roche developed and teaches the course, "Entrepreneurial Journalism," in which students develop their own digital news and information "businesses" and compete for "virtual seed money" in a pitch competition at the end of the semester.
