Obituary: Jerome B. King, retired Political Science professor

Jerome B. King, retired professor of Political Science, died Oct. 13 at his home in Hanover, N.H.

Born in New York City, he grew up in Short Hills, N.J.; London, England, and Scarsdale, N.Y.

He received a B.A. from Dartmouth in 1948 after having interrupted his studies to enlist in the Navy. He received an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Stanford University. He then began a long career teaching political philosophy at the University of Arkansas, Middlebury College, University of Vermont, Williams College, l'Université d'Aix-Marseille before joining the Government Department in 1967. He retired from the faculty in 1992.

He leaves his wife of 59 years, Muriel Driard King, his children, Nathalia, Christianne and Daniel, and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Kendal at Hanover in Hanover on Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the International Rescue Committee (www.rescue.org).
