Nutrition’s Carbone presents at conferences in Italy
Elena Carbone, associate professor of Nutrition in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences, made a presentation and moderated a panel discussion at the Echi Oltremare Food and Culture conference in Rome in June. Her presentation, titled "Who Are You and What Are You Eating?" examined the interaction of food, health and self-identity.Carbone was also an invited speaker at the Critical Studies on Food Summer Program in Italy, which included several UMass Amherst students. This presentation titled, "The Art & Science of Food: Where Culture, Nutrition, and Health Meet," focused on how discussions of science and culture can inform each other when examining food and dietary practices.
