New Hybrid MBA program offered by Isenberg School
The Isenberg School of Management's newly launched Hybrid MBA program allows students to complete a core curriculum of online MBA courses followed by nine months of courses on campus in the company of Isenberg’s second-year, full-time MBA students. It is the fourth MBA option now offered by the school.
“Isenberg’s Hybrid MBA, like our other MBA programs, offers our students flexibility and convenience, observes John Wells, associate dean of Online Programs. “For some students, our hybrid option will prove the best of both worlds,” he continues. “Students complete the program’s online core curriculum at their own pace, tailored to their own schedules and lifestyles. After that, they immerse themselves for nine months on the UMass Amherst campus, taking business and interdisciplinary electives with their peers and our full-time MBA students.”
A critical component of the residency, notes Wells, is an extended consulting project, where teams of three and four students tackle challenges on behalf of business and nonprofit clients. Last year’s clients included EMC and LEGO, medium size and small businesses, and a regional arts group. “It’s a capstone experience that gives our students an immediate opportunity to apply strategic MBA skills,” he said.
Besides the Hybrid MBA, Isenberg offers three other MBA options: a two-year, full-time MBA, an online MBA and a blended MBA, where students from Massachusetts and northern Connecticut take online courses and classes at satellite campuses in Shrewsbury, Holyoke and Springfield. All Isenberg MBA programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). In U.S. News’ current survey of online business MBAs, Isenberg ranks 22nd in the nation, 18th among public business schools, and seventh in the Northeast.
