Chancellor looking forward to preparations for upcoming football season
Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy said today he is looking forward with enthusiasm to preparations for the upcoming FBS football season.
“As the college football post-season concludes, the University of Massachusetts community is looking forward to preparing for a second season of competition in the Football Bowl Subdivision,” Subbaswamy said. “Having successfully concluded our transitional first season, the Minutemen look forward to their first bowl-eligible season at the FBS level next fall. I am fully committed to working with Athletic Director John McCutcheon and Coach Molnar to ensure that our participation at the premier level of college football continues to be a source of pride for years to come for everyone associated with our great university. I look forward to seeing all of our old and new UMass fans next season as we build an outstanding football program together. GO UMASS!”
Ed Blaguszewski, campus spokesman, said the chancellor made his comments to underscore the university’s confidence in the FBS football program. There is a firm commitment to the long-term success of FBS football, despite some recent media stories that left an impression of uncertainty with some readers.
