Biography
Pat Daly, Director of the Physical Plant, came to UMass in 1987 with a strong interest in sustainability.
He took the position as director of Engineering and later became director of Maintenance and Operations. This position was followed by associate director for Utilities and then associate director for Utilities and Building Maintenance. By 2003, Pat earned the title of director of the Physical Plant. His responsibilities involve overseeing operations and maintenance of all campus facilities, from buildings to grounds.
Pat became the Chair of the Environmental Performance Advisory Committee (EPAC) in 2008 and has since played an influential role on campus as a strong supporter of sustainability related projects and initiatives. Aside from the work that Pat has done in the realm of energy conservation and efficiency, he has also actively supported the UMass Amherst Eco-Rep Program since its formation in 2008.
In the future he hopes to see the University reduce its energy consumption from utilities, reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and look into alternative ways of making energy, such as buying green power.
