Advanced Seminar in Phonology
This course is typically a cooperative venture, with faculty, students, and visitors contributing the result of their research.

Spring 2013 Topic: The topic of the seminar is the formal and functional properties of segmental reduction and deletion processes. Instead of writing individual term papers, we will pursue the collective goal of writing (and publishing) a co-authored article that answers the question of whether deletion of a segment is always the endpoint of a succession of reduction steps, both functionally/historically and formally, in a serial OT grammar.
