Important Change
in the management of disability-related services at UMass

As of January 1, 2004, the office of Disability Services at 231 Whitmore Administration Building will service students with disabilities. This includes all students who are currently or have ever been registered with Learning Disabilities Support Services (LDSS).

Please know that the University is committed to working with students with disabilties, and this consolidation of disability offices into one is seen as a creative and important step to insure quality services.

The staff of Disability Services is dedicated to making this transition as smooth as possible for all students. Thus, at the close of the Fall 2003 semester, all LDSS files will be automatically transferred.

Disability Services works on a Case Management System much like LDSS, and when students call or stop by to schedule an appointment, they will be assigned a case manager. As in the past, case managers will work with students on accommodation requests as well as other support services. Please remember that as always students must meet with their case manager at the beginning of each semester in order to request accommodations.

Students are encouraged you to call (545-0892) or stop by Disability Services (231 Whitmore) at anytime to say hello and meet the staff. Students may also visit the Disability Services website for current news and policy updates.
