The Center is an independent, non-profit, research organization
established in 1976. The RDC "aims to improve the quality of life of
rural Australians through applied research which increases and improves
the understanding of the processes of adjustment and development in rural
Australia."
This is a page with well-developed content and an
attractive, easy-to-understand format. Features include brief case study
descriptions of "ideas that work" in Rural Economic and Community
Development, discussion groups, and pending regulations. It has the feel
of a well-maintained site.
An effective on-line substitute for the Summary Tape File
CD-ROMs. These sites have many options, allowing you to get the Census
data you want. The downside is that you can click buttons through many
different layers before actually getting the information. It also helps
to have used the STF CD-ROMs before, or to have the technical
documentation. However, if your work often involves Census data, this is
a good tool to get to know.
Provides one of the better, and more thorough,
explanations of basic telecommunications concepts that those engaged in
rural telecommunications planning might want to know.
