Current Activities at the James Rose Center
The James Rose Center funds various research and documentation projects relating to James Rose's work or to modernism in general. These projects fall into three categories:
- Documenting existing gardens by James Rose
- Sponsoring symposia and conferences
- Preserving the Recent Past, a two-day symposium at Wave Hill in the Bronx, New York, will take place Thursday, November 9, and Friday, November 10. Featured speakers on Thursday will include Elizabeth K. Meyer of the University of Virginia, Peter E. Walker of Walker, William Johnson and Partners, Charles Birnbaum of the NPS Historic Landscape Initiative, Richard Haag of Richard Haag Associates, and Dean Cardasis of the University of Massachusetts. Friday will include a tour of Lincoln Center led by Dan Kiley, and tours of three residential landscapes designed by James Rose in the 1980's, led by Dean Cardasis.
