REQUIREMENT: Required

DERIVED FROM:

FS_DEM grid (supplied by Region 2, USDAFS) and supplemented with 15 USGS DEMS from GeoCommunity (http://data.geocomm.com/dem/demdownload.html)

PROCESS USED TO CREATE:

Since FS_DEM had a cell size of 27.528, it was resampled to 25 meters and gridshifted to match the COVER grid. In order to fill in the 10k buffer, 15 24k DEM files were downloaded from the GeoCommunity website. These files were uncompressed and ArcToolbox was used to convert these files to grids. Some grids were projected from UTM 12 to UTM 13. These grids were merged together, resampled from 30 to 25 meters, shifted to match the FS_DEM derived ELEVATION grid and then a handful of NODATA cells were nibbled to replace with an elevation value. The final grid, ELEVATION was clipped with UNC10K to match the grid template. Values range from 1,363 to 4,114 meters above sea level.

ATTRIBUTES:

DescriptionValue

elevation in metersnumber

RMLANDS SIGNIFICANCE:

ELEVATION effects wildfire spread as well as succession transition probabilities for several cover types.

AMLS USED:

:elevationupl.aml was used on FS_DEM and newelevation.aml and newelmerge.aml were used on the USGS DEM files. Newelmerge.aml also creates the SLOPE and ASPECT grids.
