GRID NAMES: CONDAGE and CONDAGENO

CONDAGE is the number of years that a stand has been in the current condition (seral stage)

REQUIREMENT: Required

DERIVED FROM:

AGE, AGENO, COVER, COVERNO, CONDITION, CONDITIONNO and ELEVATION grids

PROCESS USED TO CREATE:

Using COVERNO types and three different ELEVATION ranges (for spruce-fir and spruce-fir with aspen), the CONDAGENO grid was created by subtracting the minimum age that a stand must be to be in a certain CONDITION class from the AGENO grid. This gives an approximation of how many years the stand has been in the current CONDITION. Note, this approach results in an upper estimate of condition-age (i.e., the maximum condition-age given the current age and condition). A value of 99999 was given to all non-seral cover types (roads, barren, water, mountain grassland, riparian, greasewood, sparse pinyon-juniper, agriculture and urban). The roads were then merged with CONDAGENO to create CONDAGE.

ATTRIBUTES:

condition age of vegetated, seral COVER types0 to 99998

non-vegetated or non-seral COVER types99999

RMLANDS SIGNIFICANCE:

CONDAGE is used in some instances to determine succession probabilities and is also an option when determining disturbance susceptibility.
