FRAGSTATS

Documentation

This page contains links to all FRAGSTATS documentation, including background material, user guidelines, and a description of the metrics.
Background Material --This document provides a brief overview of landscape pattern metrics as they are commonly applied in landscape ecology, as well as some key terms and concepts essential to using FRAGSTATS for quantifying landscape patterns. An understanding of the material in this section is prerequisite to the proper use of FRAGSTATS.

User Guidelines --This document provides an overview of the FRAGSTATS software, including a detailed description of the technical information required to parameterize and run FRAGSTATS via the graphical user interface. All FRAGSTATS users should read this prior to using the software.

FRAGSTATS Metrics -- This document provides a description of the metrics computed in FRAGSTATS. Metrics are grouped according to the component of pattern they measure and into patch, class, and landscape metrics. Each metric is given in mathematical terms and described in narrative terms, and the measurement units and theoretical range in values are reported.

Note, the information contained in this documentation is identical to that available in the on-line Help system available from the FRAGSTATS Help menu.
