Notes:
Real landscapes contain complex spatial patterns in the distribution of
resources that vary over time; quantifying these patterns and their dynamics is the
purview of landscape pattern analysis. Landscape ecology is largely founded on
the notion that these patterns and their dynamics affect and are affected by
ecological processes. Accordingly, landscape pattern analysis has been center
stage during the emergence of landscape ecology as a discipline over the past 20
years.
